Calvin Klein

Starr was first introduced to Calvin Klein in 1996 at a book launch event for Kelly Klein. Bruce Weber connected Starr and Klein by telling him “this is Jennifer, she has cast all of my advertising for the past few years, you should use her.” This introduction started their long working relationship.

Her first assignment was to cast someone “with the looks and charm of Christopher Atkins in the Blue Lagoon;” Starr found Travis Fimmel, who Klein signed to a million-dollar deal to model exclusively for the brand.

For the ck one “In the Box” campaign, Starr was tasked with finding 40 talent from around the globe to launch the ck one fragrance as a lifestyle brand and introduce the new bottle. This was the very first advertising job for singer Rita Ora who had just been signed to a label, musician Sky Ferreira, and British boxer-turned-model Rob Evans.

Starr was one of the first to street cast models in the early 90s starting when Bruce Weber sent her around the world to find new faces for Versace and Abercrombie and various magazines like L'Uomo Vogue.
